skin closures

Skin closures are instruments which helps you hold your skin together if incase you got injured/ hurt. When you get a wound, it is good to keep the skin close so that it can heal properly. There are different types of skin closures a doctor may use, depending on how severe the injury is and /or how deep it goes. Skin Closures Must be Monitored and Treated Otherwise, they could fall apart or even become infected. Stitches helps your skin to heal but this type is better because it has many benefits than stitches. Part of the reason this is novel tissue engineering technique that nobody knew anything about before… even wondering right down to what type(s) of skin closure they used – as taught me more than I bargained on for sure!

Steri-strips: These are thin tape like strips that can be used over a small wound. AndIn so doing we often use them for the smaller cuts and scrapes that may not need quite as much assistance. Steri-strips are simple to apply and hold the skin nicely together.

How to care for a skin closure

Butterfly Closures: A type of tape that looks like a small butterfly wing. These are for the cuts that may last a little longer and need some help along. For many wounds, butterfly closures are a good alternative for keeping the skin together without having to resort to stitches.

No matter where your skin closure is, if you wake up with a little bit of car grease that found it's way into the inner corner near your earlobe… keep it clean. This will help to keep it in a clean and germ-free condition. You may also use a antiseptic to clean it more thoroughly, like hydrogen peroxide.
